JUNIOR PLAYERS  INFORMATION FOR SEASON 2021

Welcome to Rugby season 2021! Western Districts Rugby Football Club Inc. is a not‐for‐profit community Club. We provide boys & girls the opportunity to learn the skills and enjoyment of rugby. We play in the Brisbane Junior Rugby Union (BJRU) competition.

 AGE ELIGIBILITY

Age group is determined according to the age of the player in a calendar year. For instance, if a player turns 10 in 2020, he/she will be deemed an Under 10 player. Players may play up one year only, that is, an Under 10 player can play in the Under 10 competition. Under 7 players wishing to play up in under 8 will require a coach assessment. There are no other exceptions.

VOLUNTEERING

All teams must provide a Coach, a Manager, and a Field Marshall. Teams in under 6 to 9 must provide a Referee. Coaches, Managers, Field Marshalls & Referees are volunteers. All Coaches and Referees must be accredited and obtain a Blue Card. There are many Courses available for Accreditation. The Club will assist you with registering for a course.  Junior sport cannot operate without our army of volunteers, so we ask you to help the kids and the Club wherever you can.  Volunteering is both enjoyable and rewarding. REGISTRATION & PAYMENTS

All Junior registrations are now done only on-line and payments are via credit/debit card only. The Club can no longer register players.

On-line registration will be available from January 14th 2021.

Registration Fees for Juniors are:

U6 and U7 $295

U8 to U14 $395

Modified Rugby Program $205

The Registration Fee covers the player Insurance, BJRU Levy, QRU Levy, RA Levy, Medics, Referees from U10-U17, a jersey for under 6 to under 14, use of training equipment and social membership. Each player will be provided a training shirt, water bottle, sticker, team photo and medal

After you have registered online please collect your training shirt and  sticker at the office from Friday 26th Feb

 

U15 and U16  $395

In 2020 BJRU are offering a Full season only for under 15 and 16.  If you wish to play ½ season due to school commitments, we offer ½ season registration with games finishing at the June/July holidays.  Please note there is no separate team for ½ season you simply finish playing when the first half of the season finishes.

Junior Colts (U17 & U18)  $395

In 2020 BJRU are offering a full season for Jnr Colts.  If you wish to play ½ season due to school commitments, we offer ½ season registration with games finishing at the June/July holidays.  Please note there is no separate team for ½ season you simply finish playing when the first half of the season finishes.

DISCOUNTS FOR SIBLINGS

Discounts for families with 2 players $40, 3 players $100, 4 players $200.

 

GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE

The Qld Government can assist some families with $150 vouchers for sporting fees. For information & to apply

TRAINING TIMES

The first Training Night is Friday 26th Feb (U6-U15) at Wests. Grading for U12, will commence on Friday 26th February.  Girls teams will train on Wednesday nights from 6pm and games will commence after Easter

Times may vary depending on coach and field availability. For safety reasons, all players must have a responsible adult/parent/guardian present at training. Food, drinks are all available on Friday nights and all family members are welcome to come along and enjoy the start of the weekend at the Club.

 

PUPPY PACK

On Friday night from 5.00 to 6.00pm we invite families with 3 to 5 you to join our “Puppy Pack”. Puppy Pack will assist the younger kid’s introduction to Wests. We aim to develop ball skills, promote fun and create friendships. The cost is $185 for the season. GEAR AND MERCHANDISE

  • All players must wear club socks, club shorts. They are on sale at the Club, Shorts cost $35 and Socks $15
  • Jerseys can be given to players from the first game after Easter for under 6 to under 14 only. All U15 to U17 jerseys MUST NOT be given to players and must be returned at the end of the season.
  • All players are to wear a mouth guard.
  • All players must have a water bottle at training and games (filled with water).
  • Players in Under 6 to Under 9 play in sports shoes (joggers/runners), molded football boots or blades. No steel boot tags are permitted.
  • Players in Under 10 and above play in conventional football boots with tags no longer than 18mm.
  • Referees may check boots to ensure no sharp edges exist.
  • Headgear (if worn) must bear the “World Rugby Approval” label. (Headgear is available at the Club for sale)
  • Parents should also ensure that players clothes and equipment is marked with their name.

TEAMS                                                                                                                                                              

Team allocation is guided by the principal of club first.

DRAFT teams will be posted on the club Notice board (or on the website) on or before the first training night or be advised by email. These draft teams may change.

Teams from U12 to U17 will be graded.

Players in U6 to U11 are allocated into a team by the Club Registrar based on the balance of players.

Grading is banned by the BJRU in U6 to U11.

Parents/Coaches/Managers are not allowed to create their own teams, please refer to our Junior Club Policies.               

CODE OF CONDUCT                                                                                                                                                      

Our club has a zero tolerance to poor sideline behavior from parents. All players, coaches, officials, parents/guardians, spectators, or any other Club affiliate is bound by the Code of Conduct and shall not at any time act in a manner detrimental towards the game or spirit of Rugby Union. Penalties apply for anyone breaking these rules. See Section 3.3 of the BJRU rules on their website.

Sponsorship opportunities are now available. There are many ways to support our Club and Rugby. Sponsorship can be via Team Jerseys, Precinct Signage, Equipment, Webpage, Newsletters, Social Functions, Presentation night and many more.

WET WEATHER If it is raining or there has been substantial rain, go to our Facebook and Instagram for the latest information on training and/or games. FYI the maximum rain our field can take is about 10mm. If we have considerable rain (above 10mm) the day before games, the Club will make an early call and cancel games. Our club now has 650 juniors and 290 senior players with only two fields. Our fields are critical asset and so the Club must ensure these assets are usable by all players for the whole season.
